KABUL – Kabul witnessed the grand opening of the International Exhibition of Imam Abu Hanifah on Sunday, a significant event aimed at attracting investment opportunities to Afghanistan. The exhibition showcased an array of local products alongside international offerings.
Taliban officials and foreign diplomats were present at the opening ceremony, delivering speeches that underscored the importance of self-reliance for Afghanistan’s economic growth and prosperity. A voice note, purportedly from Taliban leader Mullah Hibatullah, stressed the need to reduce reliance on foreign aid and encouraged potential investors to explore the favorable investment environment within the country.
In his address, Mullah Hibatullah urged entrepreneurs and investors to seize the current opportunities and consider investing in Afghanistan. Notably, Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, the Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, emphasized Pakistan’s significant role as Afghanistan’s largest trading partner.
Motiwala expressed the importance of fostering robust ties between traders and businessmen from both nations to harness the potential offered by the exhibition. He pledged Pakistan’s support for initiatives that create a conducive environment for regional business communities.
Moreover, Motiwala announced that Pakistan is actively facilitating Afghanistan’s global trade by providing transit facilities. As a testament to their commitment, Pakistan has granted substantial tariff concessions on all Afghan fruit and vegetable exports.
The exhibition stands as a symbol of the efforts to boost Afghanistan’s economy and create a platform for regional trade and investment, with both the Taliban and Pakistan showing support for these initiatives.
