Kabul: In response to Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghanistan, the United States has issued a call for the Taliban to prevent terrorist attacks originating from Afghan territory, alongside urging Islamabad to exercise caution and protect civilians during their anti-terrorism operations. This statement was made by Vedant Patel, Principal Spokesperson for the US Department of State, on March 19.
During a press briefing on the same day, Patel emphasized the importance of the Taliban’s cooperation in preventing terrorist activities from Afghan soil.
When questioned about Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghanistan, Patel acknowledged the reports and expressed deep regret for the loss of life and injuries resulting from an attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, as well as civilian casualties in Afghanistan. He urged the Taliban to prevent terrorist attacks from being launched from Afghanistan and called upon Pakistan to exercise restraint and protect civilians during their anti-terrorism efforts. Patel further urged both sides to address any differences that may arise.
