Kabul: The Chinese special investigative team has traveled to Islamabad to investigate last week’s suicide attack against its engineers in northwest Pakistan.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsen Naqvi, visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad today, meeting with the head and members of the Beijing investigative team to discuss the latest efforts by Pakistani security agencies in identifying the perpetrators and facilitators of the terrorist attack against Chinese engineers.
Naqvi pledged Pakistan’s close cooperation with China in identifying the masterminds behind the recent attack, stating, “We will identify the main perpetrators of this terrorist act and bring them to justice.”
Yesterday, the spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while condemning the terrorist attack against Chinese engineers, expressed solidarity with the government and people of China. They added: “High-level investigations are underway to identify the perpetrators of this attack.”
Mumtaz Zahra emphasized: “China and Pakistan recognize their common enemies, and we explicitly declare that any country, group, or individual targeting Chinese nationals in Pakistan will be considered an enemy of both us and China.”
The spokesperson for the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: “Our strategic and longstanding relations with China are of paramount importance, and Islamabad believes that the enemies of both countries are seeking to undermine our relationship.”
The Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, hours after the suicide attack that killed five of its nationals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Wednesday, requested that the Pakistani government and security agencies increase security measures to protect the lives of Chinese nationals in Pakistan.
The spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs also demanded a thorough and immediate investigation into the terrorist incident by Pakistani authorities.
