Kabul: The joint military exercises between Russia and Tajikistan along the Afghanistan border were initiated in response to increasing terrorism threats.
Forces from Russia’s 201st Military Base stationed in Tajikistan are participating in these drills, which involve various units and specialists from both nations. The exercises aim to train armed forces in combating terrorist groups and operating in mountainous terrain.
This coincide with heightened security concerns expressed by the Collective Security Treaty Organization regarding terrorism threats in Central Asia.
Recent attacks, like the one in the Moscow suburbs attributed to ISIS-Khorasan, highlight the urgency of such exercises.
