Kabul: Iran’s special representative for Afghanistan, Hasan Kazemi Qomi, emphasized the significance of water in fostering bilateral ties during a meeting with Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaqi in Kabul. Qomi expressed hope for continued water flow to Iran and gratitude for the removal of obstacles hindering the flow from the Helmand River.
Muttaqi acknowledged the recent beneficial rains, leading to increased water flow from the Helmand River to Afghanistan’s Nimroz province and Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province after years of drought. He characterized Afghanistan-Iran relations as “friendly and positive,” anticipating further expansion in various domains. Additionally, Qomi expressed appreciation for the Afghan ruling body stance on Israel’s Gaza attacks and condemnation of the assault on the Iranian consulate in Damascus during the meeting.
