Kabul: Pakistani police reported that a drone-launched missile struck a house in northwestern Pakistan near the Afghan border, resulting in the deaths of at least four villagers, including children, during the early hours of Tuesday.
The incident occurred in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an area previously inhabited by the Pakistani Taliban, though it’s unclear who carried out the strike, prompting ongoing investigations.
The victims were identified as civilians with no apparent ties to insurgents, leading to protests by villagers demanding accountability for the attack. While most past drone strikes in the area were attributed to either the United States or the Pakistan army, there has been no official response from the government or military regarding this strike. The Pakistani Taliban, has reportedly gained confidence following the Afghan political reshuffle in August 2021.
