AT-KABUL: The Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah has demanded amendments in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) recently signed between spy agencies of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
A close source to the Chief Executive office has said that Abdullah was informed about the final content of the accord by the former President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday morning. After being informed about the content, Abdullah requested a meeting with President Ashraf Ghani and the NDS chief, Rahmatullah Nabil, to discuss the matter.
During the meeting, Abdullah expressed his reservations about certain clauses in the cooperation agreement, including issues related to training of the NDS personnel and joint efforts to fight ‘separatist’ movements.
The deputy Chief Executive, Mohammad Khan, said that the Chief Executive was aware of the agreement in general but additional articles in the intelligence sharing accord have been added without informing him.
“According to my information Mr. Abdullah was consulted only on the draft agreement, but he remained completely unaware of a number of contents of the MoU which were included later,” quoted by TOLONews Khan said.
“For instance the agreement quotes war against ‘separatist movement’, but it does not make any sense. I do not understand what are ‘separatist movements’ and where they are. We do not have any ‘separatist movement’ in the country,” he said.
