AT-KABUL: At least 20 militants including four foreigners have been killed in southern Helmand province.
Helmand Police Chief, Nabi Jan Mulakhel, said that a group of militants attacked security checkpoints in Khanshin district of the province. “Security forces killed 20 insurgents including four foreigner suicide bombers in retaliation,” he added.
He said that all the four suicide bombers were Pakistani nationals.
Mulakhel said that the militants attacked the checkpoints the other night and the clashes continued till morning.
He added that there was no casualty to security forces in the fighting.
The attack came at a time that recently officials in Musa Qala district expressed concerns that the district may fall to the Taliban’s control. However, security officials in the province said that they have pushed back the militants from the district.
