KABUL – In a significant step towards supporting Afghanistan’s future, Qatar and Indonesia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide scholarships for Afghan students to study in Indonesia. The MoU was signed via video conference by Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, HE Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater, and Indonesia’s Foreign Minister, HE Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi.
This collaboration aims to empower Afghan youth by enhancing their educational opportunities, enabling them to contribute to the rebuilding of their country. The partnership also highlights the deep ties between Qatar and Indonesia, as both nations work together to foster global human development and tackle Afghanistan’s ongoing humanitarian crisis, particularly the challenges faced by Afghan women and girls.
The initiative is part of Qatar’s broader commitment, with Doha already pledging $75 million in aid to Afghanistan. The MoU marks another milestone in Qatari-Indonesian relations, extending beyond diplomacy to support education and capacity-building for Afghan students.
