KABUL – Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), Afghanistan’s national power utility, has announced the full restoration of electricity imports from Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. This development follows the resolution of technical issues and storm-induced disruptions that had temporarily plunged several provinces into darkness, Kun.uz reported.
The power supply was initially interrupted due to strong winds and technical setbacks that halted imports from both neighboring countries. The outage affected several regions, including the capital Kabul, and provinces such as Balkh, Samangan, Parwan, Panjshir, Kapisa, Nangarhar, Laghman, Paktia, Logar, Khost, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, and Baghlan.
DABS confirmed that with the resolution of these challenges, electricity supply has been restored to all affected areas, bringing relief to residents and businesses reliant on stable power for daily operations.
Afghanistan depends heavily on energy imports from neighboring nations, including Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, to fulfill its electricity needs. Frequent disruptions highlight the country’s vulnerability and the critical role of regional power agreements in maintaining stability in its energy sector.
