By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ministry of Education (MoE) to provide healthcare services to school students in the country.
Minister of Public Health, Ferozuddin Feroz, said that the agreement aimed to foster healthcare services along with education for children in the country.
Speaking at a press conference here, he said the health and education ministries would hold joint efforts to ensure students had access to better healthcare services at the schools.
He said that health volunteers would visit the schools in order to prevent diseases. He went on to say that emergency health kits would be provided to all schools in the country. “This is a long-term program, which will cover all schools and training centers,” he said.
Minister of Education, Asadullah Hanif Balkhi, said that his ministry is committed to support the program.
He said that healthcare awareness programs for students, helping teachers to attend the national public health campaigns and establishment of healthcare centers at schools are top priorities.
He said the programs would be implemented and financed jointly by the two ministries.
