AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: President Ashraf Ghani on Monday introduced Sayid Yusuf Halim as member-designate for the Supreme Court’s High Council position, an official said.
“According to Article 64 of the Constitution, the president has approved the candidacy of Sayid Yusuf Halim for membership of the High Court of Afghanistan,” a presidential decree said.
The minister at parliamentary affairs was tasked to introduce Halim to the Wolesi Jirga for a vote of confidence.
The Supreme Court has nine members who have been introduced by the president to the Wolesi Jirga for vote of confidence.
As per Article 117th of the Constitution, the Supreme Court shall be comprised of nine members, appointed by the president and with the endorsement of the House of People—the Wolesi Jirga.
