AT-KABUL: At least 109 armed Taliban fighters were killed and 96 others wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) has conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Kapisa, Nangarhar, Paktika, Khost, Uruzgan, Daikundi, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Sar-e-Pul, Helmand, Kunduz, Faryab and Herat provinces. In these operations 109 rebels were eliminated and 96 others injured.
A soldier was also killed in the operations. The ministry claimed of arresting a militant and recovering huge cache of weapons, however, did not provide further information in this regard.
