AT-KABUL: The US drone strike killed eight militants in the eastern Nangarhar province, said an official in the province.
Hazrat Husain Mashriqiwal, spokesman for Nangarhar police, said that the US forces carried out the airstrike in Mohmand Dara district of the province. He added that the strike targeted two vehicles killing eight insurgents.
He said that four dead bodies have been dispatched to the center of the district for identification. Mashriqiwal added that remaining four dead bodies could not be identified.
The Taliban haven’t commented about the drone strike yet.
It is worth mentioning that the US forces frequently launch drone strikes against terrorists in mountainous areas of Afghanistan. Local officials in the eastern Afghanistan recently termed the drone strikes as effective in war against militants.
