AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: As many as 13 Taliban insurgents and a civilian were killed in different security-related incidents in Kunduz and Helmand provinces, sources said on Saturday.
Police chief for Helmand province, Col. Nabi Jan Mullahkhail, told a local news agency that eight militants were taken out and 15 others injured during a clash the other night with Afghan security forces in Sistani area of Marja district.
The police chief said that a cop also sustained bullet injuries in the gunfight. His condition was said to be stable.
Meanwhile, the Taliban militant attacked check-posts in Musa Kala district of the province on Friday night. Mohammad Sharif Khan, the district chief, said that a civilian lost his life and three others were injured in the clash. However, he did not provide details about police and militants casualties.
The Taliban claimed killing five security personnel and injuring four others in Marja district, but the group’s report could not be confirmed independently.
In another incident in Chahardara district of Kunduz province, five insurgents were killed and seven others were injured when they tried to storm security posts.
Spokesman to the governor, Abdul Wadood Wahidi, said the insurgent stormed the check-posts on Saturday morning.
Wahidi said that no civilian or soldier was killed and injured in the pre-dawn attack. On the other hand, the second Afghan National Army (ANA) battalion commander Maj. Ghulam Hazrat Kaftar said that two soldiers were injured during the attack.
Maj. Kaftar said the clash ended and security situation was under control.
