AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Minister of Borders and Tribal Affairs called on China’s Ambassador to Afghanistan and discussed different issues of mutual interest.
Mohammad Gulab Mangal in a meeting with the Chinese diplomat, Ding Zi Jin, commended the Beijing leadership for providing assistance to Afghanistan in various fields.
The minister told the Chinese diplomat that ties between the two neighboring countries would be improved further to ensure tight security on the borders.
Telling the ambassador about the ministry’s responsibilities, Mangal said improved security on the borders was top priority of the ministry. He urged China to help the ministry in this connection while providing required facilities.
It is pertinent to mention that interior ministers of the two country has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) the previous month aimed at building the capacity of the Afghan border police. According to the MoU, China will provide scholarships, land mine defusing equipment and scanners to the Afghan police. Moreover, the border police commanders of the two countries will hold joint meetings after every three months to share their experiences. The agreement speaks volumes about the growing and positive bilateral relations.
