AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Electronic Identity Cards Department fired 800 of its staffers, said an official on Sunday.
Nasir Ahmad Amin, the executive head of the department, said that they have fired 800 of their staffers due to lack of budget.
He added that they took the decision after that donor organizations cut their support for the department. He said that millions of dollars have been spent on training of the 800 staffers who were no fired.
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the European Union (EU) are donors of the electronic ID cards distribution process. The two donor organizations blamed the government of negligence in starting distribution of electronic identity cards.
