AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) on Tuesday signed contracts with different community development councils to implement 66 agricultural and irrigation projects in 10 different provinces.
The total cost of projects has been estimated around Afs193 million. The Asian Development Bank pledged to fund 50 projects. MRRD will provide funds for the remaining 10 projects.
Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, Muhammad Nasir Durrani, said the projects would be completed within next one year and around 128,408 villages would benefit from the uplift schemes.
He said that the projects would be implemented in Balkh, Samangan, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Panjshir, Ghor, Bamyan, Daikundi, Kabul, Takhar, Fariab, Zabul and Laghman provinces.
Durrani said that the MRRD has implemented around 201 agricultural and irrigation projects in the past four month in different provinces of the country. The projects had cost one billion Afghanis.
