AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Deterioration of law and order and lack of reconstruction projects in Khanshin district in southern Helmand province irked the residents of the province.
They called on the government to address their problems as the government cannot remain unfazed by what has been happening in the area.
In a gathering attended by Governor Mirza Khan Rahimi, Haji Wali a local elder on behalf of residents accused the government for neglecting Khanshin districts in terms of maintaining security and carrying out development projects. Besides security deterioration, the glut of jobless youth is growing too.
“There are no schools for our children and they are growing while having no access to education, which is terrible,” Wali lamented. According to Pajhwok News Agency, the main demand of the residents of Khanshin is construction of bridges, roads, canals, schools and health centers.
Another resident, Haji Karam Khan said growing insecurity and joblessness would definitely compel the residents to migrate to Iran and Pakistan.
People live in worse condition, Karam said, adding that young people who have taken arms against government was due to worst financial condition. He added that if they were employed to any development projects, they may leave fighting.
Assuring support to establish peace in the district, the governor said that efforts would be taken to eradicate corruption and provide equal respect to every individual to reduce gap between the residents and government.
