AT-KABUL: At least 73 armed Taliban fighters were killed and 80 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 48 hours.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) in collaboration with Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) has conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Paktia, Khost, Ghazni, Uruzgan, Daikundi, Kandahar, Zabul, Helmand, Herat, Kunduz and Baghlan provinces. In these operations 73 rebels were eliminated and 80 others injured.
Five suspects were arrested and handed over to judicial body for further inquiry. ANA also recovered huge cache of weapons and ammunition in the operations, the ministry claimed.
According to the statement, six soldiers were killed in landmines explosion and rockets shelling in different province.
