AT-KABUL: At least 30 armed Taliban fighters were killed and 40 others were wounded in different crackdowns within past 24 hours.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Interior (MoI) said that Afghan National Police (ANP) in collaboration with Afghan National Army (ANA) and the National Directorate of Security (NDS) has conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different areas of Faryab, Kandahar, Zabul, Uruzgan, Maidan Wardak, Logar and Helmand provinces. In these operations 30 rebels were eliminated and 40 others injured.
Nine insurgents were also arrested in the crackdowns and were handed over to the relevant judicial body for interrogation, added the statement.
ANP also recovered huge cache of weapons in the operations, the ministry claimed.
