AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A key commander of Daesh militants was killed in a drone strike in eastern Nangarhar province, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said the other day.
The NDS said in a statement that the airstrike which killed Daesh’s second-in-command Gul Zaman and his deputy Jahadyar has also taken the life of Shaikh Maqbool alias Shahidullah Shahid.
The statement said that Maulvi Shahidullah Shahid was killed in an airstrike in Achin district, Nangarhar.
Dozens of other militants were also killed in this airstrike conducted earlier this week.
According to a Pakistani media outlet, Shahid was a spokesman for Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) who later pledged allegiance to Daesh.
He was one of the few senior members of TTP who joined Daesh when it first emerged in the region few months before.
According to the NDS, Shahid under the umbrella of Daesh planned to fuel insecurity in the region and play a central role in this regard.
