AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Two commanders of Daesh rebels have been killed in security forces operations in eastern Nangarhar province, said security official on Tuesday.
Nangarhar Police Chief, Fazl Ahmad Shirzad, told newsmen that the military operation was launched in Chaparhar district Monday night and was ended up on Tuesday morning.
He added that two Daesh commanders were killed, one wounded and three others were arrested with eight different types of weapons during the operation.
He named the dead Daesh commanders as Faruq and Mirwais and the wounded one as Mansur.
July has been the deadliest month for Daesh with losing key commanders such as Shaikh Maqbool alias Shahidullah Shahid, Gul Zaman and Jahadyar.
Daesh also known as ISIS or the Islamic State was active in Syria and Iraq for years but it has emerged in Nangarhar province and some other parts of the country months ago. The self-proclaimed rebels group has recruited hundreds of fighters – most of them defectors of the Taliban.
The country’s security agencies have formed the Afghan Forces’ Special Unit to weed out this terrorit group from Afghanistan.
