AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The National Unity Government (NUG) officials have said that another woman will be introduced as a female judge at the Supreme Court after Anisa Rassouli was rejected by the parliament last month.
The Chief Executive of NUG Abdullah Abdullah the other day in a session with female lawmakers, women rights advocates and civil society activists, vowed to introduce another woman for the membership of the Supreme Court.
He praised women’s role in political, social and cultural affairs, and promised to support the women and their role in NUG.
He said that Miss Rassouli was introduced as member of the Supreme Court considering all the legal standards but she could not receive enough votes of confidence from MPs.
Rassouli was introduced to the parliament as part of President Ghani’s promise to appoint a female judge in the Supreme Court during presidential campaign for the second round of election last year.
President Ghani recently said he has spoken with the religious scholars and the appointment of a female judge in Supreme Court does not have any legal or religious issue.
He said the women have been deprived of their rights all these years and insisted to give them their rights.
