Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: The Afghanistan Congress Party (ACP) on Sunday asked the National Unity Government (NUG) to directly talk with the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) instead of Taliban to bring stability and peace to the war-hit country.
The ACP, a newly emerged political party, said the Afghan insurgent groups were supported and controlled by the Pakistani spy agency ISI and the Taliban could not take decisions independently.
Chairman of the ACP, Mustafa Kamal, in a press conference here said that his party was supporting the peace process but it must guarantee peace and stability in Afghanistan.
Muhammad Aziz Aasifi, a member of the ACP, said the Afghan government should directly talk with ISI as the Taliban insurgents could not take “a single step” without getting green-signal from the Pakistani military establishment.
He said that ISI could bring peace in Afghanistan if it wants so, adding the government should approach the United States and submit a resolution against Islamabad as Pakistan is using the Taliban and other insurgent groups against Afghanistan.
Responding to a question, he said that Kabul could divert flow of rivers to pressurize Pakistan.
He further said that Islamabad should be urged to honestly support the Afghan peace process and restrain from pursuing its secret and ‘evil’ goals.
“We [Afghanistan] have another option as well to prod Islamabad to support peace process, wholeheartedly. We shall not let Pakistan to benefit from the Afghan transit routes and access Central Asia,” he said.
Pakistani authorities had said that Islamabad is ready to host the second round of peace talks soon.
However, after the death of Mullah Omar, the peace talks are caught by controversies.
