Peace talks with murderers of Afghans not acceptable: AIHRC

AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Afghanistan’s Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) denounced the recent terrorist attacks in the strongest possible terms and said that the attacks were in sharp contrast with the Islamic instructions.

The remarks come at a time that three terrorist attacks in Kabul on Friday led to killing of more than 50 people and wounded over 400 others.

Abdul Rahman Hotak, a commissioner of the AIHRC, criticized the peace talks with the Taliban and said that peace negotiations with murderers of the people of Afghanistan are not acceptable.

Civil society activists also urged the government to adopt a clear policy towards Pakistan and the Taliban militants.

Questioning the National Unity Government’s (NUG) stance towards Pakistan and the Taliban militants, the civil society activists said that Islamabad under the name of peace process is playing a new game to implement its nefarious designs in Afghanistan. They said that the NUG leaders have turned their blind eye towards double standard policy of Pakistan.

Youth’s Coordination and Empowerment Network said that the government should not compromise over fate of the people of Afghanistan in the peace talks with the Taliban.

“How long will terrorist attacks take lives of innocent Afghan civilians and the government will suffice by merely pointing the finger of blame to Pakistan or Iran,” said Raza Khan Bawari, a member of the network. He called on the government to break its silence over recent terrorist attacks. He stressed that the government should adopt a clear policy towards Pakistan and the Taliban.

He warned that they will stage protests, if the government did not pay attention to their demands.

The network alleged that Iran is also involved in terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
