AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 15 policemen were killed in the line of duty in Helmand province when the Taliban insurgents attacked their post, sources said on Wednesday.
According to local sources, the militant group attacked police post late Tuesday night in Musa Qala district of the province.
Bashir Ahmad Shahkir, a member of the provincial council, told Tolonews that militants wearing police uniforms breached security of the check-post and killed the policemen in the overnight attack.
The interior ministry has not provided details about the attack. Taliban fighters are active in the southern province posing threats to civilians. The militants engage security forces on routine basis. The restive province is known as stronghold of the insurgent group.
