AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Four policemen were killed and six others were held hostage by the Taliban when the insurgents attacked a police check-post in Jawzjan province, official sources said on Friday.
According to the deputy governor, Abdul Rahman Mahmoodi, the policemen came under attack when they gathered for biometric identification at the check-post in Kham Aab dar district of the province.
He said the militants killed four policemen and six others were held hostage.
Confirming the incident, Police Chief Brig. Gen. Faqir Mohammad told media that a search operation has been launched to trace the insurgents and secure release of the kidnapped policemen.
Spokesman of the Taliban militants, Zabihullah Mujahid, confirmed the figures, saying four cops were killed and six others kidnapped. He said the militants also seized weapons.
Last month, the militants beheaded three policemen abducted in Faryab province. The cops were kidnapped when they were on their way to home.
