AT-KABUL: Operatives of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) foiled a terror bid in Kabul by busting a group of militants in Logar province.
The NDS in a statement issued here on Saturday said that the militants were members of Haqqani network. The group of nine insurgents wanted to carry out suicide blasts and coordinated attacks in the Kabul.
The group was busted during an operation conducted in Niazi village of Pul-i-Alam, the capital city of Logar province. “Four of the nine insurgents were killed and five others were arrested,” the statement added.
According to the press release the arrested people include Muhammad Ishaq, planner of the terror bid, and two suicide bombers. Two other people were arrested for sheltering the militants.
The NDS operatives also recovered several heavy and light weapons from the militants.
The arrested men have confessed their crime during primary investigations. The statement said that the detained men confessed that they had received training in Faruqi Madrasa, a religious seminary in Tal area of Miranshah.
