AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least six school principals have been arrested by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives in central Logar province for alleged links with the Taliban rebels, said official the other day.
Quoted by Pajhwok Afghan News, the deputy education director, Wazir Ahmad Momand, said the principals of the schools had a joint meeting with the Taliban.
He said the NDS operatives detained them after they returned from the meeting.
He said the schools were situated in areas under the Taliban control and they had meeting with militants to avoid any loss to schools.
He added that the principals could not be blamed for anything and the NDS should release them without any delay.
Spokesman of education department, Mohammad Shahpoor Arab, confirmed the arrest of principals of Kochiyano School, Hazrat Omar School, Pat Khwab Shana School and three others.
Haji Habibullah, a relative of a principal of Kochiano School, said the principals are helpless and they need to sit and have meeting with Taliban since militants beat them, kill them and create problems for them.
He urged the NDS officials to release the principals since they did not have any involvement in illegal activities.
The NDS has not commented on the incident.
