AT-KABUL: Ministry of Interior (MoI) has decided to deploy 1,000 more local policemen in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Tuesday.
Chief of the Afghan Local Police (ALP) department at the MoI, General Ali Shah Ahmadzai, said the decision is aimed to improve law and order situation in the province.
The provincial media office said that Ahmadzai told Governor Saleem Khan Kundozi in a meeting that the additional policemen would be deployed in Achin, Chaparhar, Kot, Bati Kot, Ghanikhel, Dih Bala, Khogyani, Nazyan and other insecure districts.
Presence of Daesh in the districts has resulted into rapidly deteriorating security situation. Annoyed Pakistani and Afghan Taliban are joining ranks of the Islamic State. The multinational terror group is not only involved in anti-state activities but also announced war against the Taliban.
