Abdul Zuhoor Qayomi-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga (WJ) or the Lower House of Parliament on Wednesday supported public uprisings against Taliban insurgents in different provinces.
The lawmakers agreed to support anti-Taliban uprisings by the Afghan masses but they said that the uprisings should be peacefully in order to avoid disorder in the country.
Gulalai Noor Saif, a representative from Balkh province, welcomed public uprising against insurgents and said that it was a great sense of patriotism to see the people of Afghanistan standing beside security forces to defend their country.
She said that public uprising must be controlled by the security agencies in order to prevent possible chaos in the country.
“The weapons that are used by members of the uprising movements against the enemies of the country should be reregistered,” she suggested.
Fatihullah Qaisari, an MP from Faryab province, said that if the government had failed to ensure security in the country, let give a chance to the public to defend their country as precedents are there “in the history of the world”.
“The first vice president Gen. Dostum shall stand again beside the Afghan security forces to keep their morale high during battles,” Qaisari added.
Habiba Danish, an MP from Takhar, termed the public uprisings as a significant tool to tame insurgency in the country. “Public uprising is important to defend Afghanistan,” she said. Hinting to the Kunduz attack, she said that airstrikes should be continued on insurgents until the province was cleared from militants.
It is worth mentioning that recently media outlets reported that a number of former Mujahedeens in Balkh, Takhar, Baghlan, Badakhshan, Nangarhar and Kabul provinces had showed their preparations to stand beside the security forces, if the government allowed them.
