AT-KABUL: At least 70 Taliban militants have been killed and 40 others wounded in a clash between Taliban and Afghan forces in Ghazni’s capital on Tuesday, official said.
The deputy provincial governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi said that clashes between Taliban and security forces erupted in Noghi, Qarabaagh and Spandi areas which left at least 70 militants killed and some 40 others injured.
The clashes between two sides are continued in several parts of the province.
Separately, Taliban had closed Kabul-Kandahar highway on Monday in the Qarabagh district in Ghazni in hope of attacking six parts of the province. However, the attack was foiled by Afghan forces who confronted the insurgents for a few hours, media said.
The Taliban blocked the Kabul-Kandahar highway for a second day on Tuesday on the outskirts of the capital of southern Ghazni province, but security forces has conducted an operation and killed many of Taliban militants. The Taliban have been suffering major amount of casualties, official said.
