AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least two civilians have been killed and six others wounded in a bomb blast in Yahyakhel district of southern Paktika province on Wednesday.
Provincial Council Chairman, Afsar Khan Sulemankhel, said that two people have been killed and six others sustained injuries in an explosion took place inside a shop in the district bazaar around 10:30 a.m.
The district chief, Musa Khan Kharoti, confirmed the explosion and casualties, and said the blast took place in a computer shop. Four shops were damaged by the explosion. The wounded people were shifted to Sharana Civil Hospital.
Noor Mohammad, a resident of the district, said the victims belonged to the Zankoh area of Yahyakhel.
The governor’s spokesman, Nabiullah Perkhail, said a search operation has been launched to arrest the culprits. No group has claimed responsibility.
Meanwhile, six tribal elders wounded in a bomb blast in Ismaelkhel district of the eastern Khost province on Wednesday, said district chief.
Chief of Ismael Khel district, Yunus Zadran, said the tribal elders were on their way to attend a ceremony organized to support Afghan security forces when a remote-controlled bomb attached to a motorcycle went off.
Mohammad Shafiq, an eyewitness, the bomb was detonated when the vehicle, the elders were travelling in, approached the motorbike. The incident occurred at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday.
No group has taken responsibility for the attack.
The district chief blames the Taliban militants for such attacks to terrorize the locals, especially those who are supporting the security forces and the government. He said that investigation has been launched to arrest the perpetrators.
