AT-KABUL: At least 11 insurgents have been killed in an airstrike and military operation in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said on Wednesday.
Governor of Achin district, Haji Ghalib, said the Taliban insurgents were traveling in a vehicle in Syah Cho area late Tuesday when they came under the airstrike attack, leaving five militants dead including a Taliban commander and some foreigners, he said.
Reports suggest that there was a foreign hostage in the vehicle who might have been killed in the airstrike along with militants, he added.
He said that six Taliban insurgents were killed in ground military offensive in Abdulkhil area of Achin district on Wednesday morning. Abdulkhil area is believed to be the sanctuary of Daesh from where they have carried attacks on security check-posts.
