Casualties were feared on Friday when a car bomb went off in front of a security post in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, an official said.
The blast took place shortly after 3pm in Sah Anzeer area which serves as the frontline in an ongoing conflict between security forces and militants, said the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak.
He said more information about the incident would be known later.
A security official, who wished anonymity, said the blast took place in front of a security post after being visited by the deputy provincial governor and other high officials.
The deputy governor, Mohammad Jan Rassoulyar, said he was unhurt in the car bombing that caused casualties to some people, but he had immediately no figures to share with the media.
It is a developing story. There was no claim of responsibility for the car bombing till filing of this report. (PAN)
