AT-KABUL: At least five worshipers have been killed and four others were injured after a rocket fired by Daesh insurgents hit a mosque in Achin district of Nangarhar province, official said on Saturday.
The governor of Achin district, Haji Ghalib said the assault took place in Pandola area on Friday evening, saying dozens worshipers were in the mosque when a rocket fired by Daesh (ISIS) landed in the mosque, leaving five killed and wounded four others. The wounded people were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, he added.
He furthered that the Daesh insurgents were targeting a security check post. Six rockets were fired by Daesh whereas one of them landed in the mosque.
Achin district is considered to be the sanctuary of Daesh militants in Nangarhar province where from the group has launched several attacks recently. The government has launched military operation in the area and hundreds of the terrorists have been killed nevertheless it is still believed that at least 1,000 Deash fighters have their presence in the area.
