AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Sar-e-Pul provincial council (PC) expressed their deep concerns over mounting insecurity in the province.
Members of the PC said that Kohistanat district of the province was under the Taliban’s control and the terrorist group has increased its activities in Baghawi, Sheramha and Sayad areas of the province as well as areas between Sar-e-Pul and Faryab provinces.
Husain Mujahidzada, a member of Sar-e-Pul PC, told Radio Azadi that insecurity has mounted in the province. He urged the government to conduct military operations against the militants.
In the meantime, the provincial police chief, Abdul Qayum Baqizoi, admits insecurity in the province, but said that they have considerably restrained insurgents’ activities. He added that Afghan forces will clear Kohistanat district of the Talbian militants soon. “We have planned military operations against insurgents in the district,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that the provincial governor recently said that clearing Kohistanat district of the militants was in top priority of his second 100-day action plan.
He stressed on importance of security and said that he will focus on brining security to the province in his next 100 days of work.
