Achakzai for cessation of Pakistan meddling: “Afghan war ends if Pak interference stops”

AT News Report-KABUL: Pakistan’s Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Pakistan’s National Assembly has recently delivered a rare scathing critique on how vindictively Pakistani government has been meddling in Afghanistan and how badly the war-ravaged nation has been hemorrhaging to Pakistan’s dubious strategy.

“For God’s sake, stop interfering in Afghanistan. It has been forty years that Pakistan has been shedding blood of Afghans. We must stop interfering there – just right now.  We are destroying Afghanistan through our meddling. There would no war – in fact – in Afghanistan without our interference. Is 40 years not enough?”

Achakzai said that Afghanistan is a friend and a strategic partner for Pakistan, and a biggest market. “Every day, hundreds of Afghans are killed. And 40 Afghan soldiers are killed in battle every day; but surprisingly other 40 soldiers join the army the next day to replace the dead ones. They (Afghans) are very strange people. If this intricate situation occurs in Pakistan, no Pakistani would join the army even for a 5 lack pay.”

“Soldiers from Germany, UK, Japan, Canada, and three to four thousand American soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan and all of them are saying Pakistan is responsible for it. They are very dangerous people, and they will take revenge,” he said, referring to foreign soldiers killed in Afghanistan war.

“Everyone in Pakistan – from high-raking government officials to ordinary people – has a deep understanding of the fact that Pakistan has been enduring its most dangerous times. In the face of the current fragile situation, there seems to be no trajectory as tribal hatred and schism is too gaining traction in Pakistan,” said Achakzai.

Referring to Pakistan’s federally administrated tribal areas, Achakzai said that Pakistan government must be cautious. “Pakistan wants to bring reforms in FATA without having asked a single individual living there about it.”

At least five million people are living in Pakistan’s tribal belt.

“Why you’re concealing your perpetrating of great atrocities in FATA,” he asked the government of Pakistan. “Not hundreds, but thousands of people have been killed in FATA. You have committed atrocity against people living in FATA just like a foreign colonist state does against a colony.”

This comes as Pakistan’s lower house of parliament, with rare support from the opposition, has passed a bill to align tribal belt areas with the rest of the country. The legislation, pushed by the ruling party, envisages administratively merging the semi-autonomous tribal regions bordering Afghanistan into the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for the first time in the 70 years since Pakistan’s creation.
