AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Chairman of Pakhtunkhwa Mili Awami Party (PkMAP), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, said that mistreatment with Pashtuns and Afghans in Pakistan was not tolerable anymore.
Talking to a press conference the Pashtun nationalist leader said, “We don’t know the concept of refugee. Afghans are our brothers and it is up to them to decide where they want to live. If they are willing to live here (Khyeber Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan) they are most welcome and if they want to leave, it would be better.”
He said that the Pakistan’s government should not harass Pashtuns under the name of refugees in Punjab. “Every Pashtun is not a terrorist and everyone who is wearing turban is not a refugee,” Achakzai added.
Talking about the Pak-China corridor, Achakzai said that the original route which passes through Khyber Pakhunkhwa and Blochistan is the shortest way to connect Gwadar (in Baluchistan) to Kashgar (in China). He added that their party was against any changes to the original map of the route.
It is worth mentioning that the corridor was finalized around three years ago to pass through underdeveloped areas of Khyber Pakhunkhwa and Balochistan. However, Pakistan’s government is now considering changes to the route. “Pakistan’s prime minster, Nawaz Sharif, should take advice of all provinces on the issue and it should not listen to Punjab only,” Achakzai went on as saying.
He said that implementing the original route would not only benefit people of underdeveloped areas in the two provinces, but will also improve connectivity between Afghanistan and Pakistan as well as Central Asian region.
