Kabul: While hundreds of Afghan refugees have been killed and injured in the recent earthquake in Turkey, the affected people are asking for help.
Afghan refugees living in Avakint region of Hatay province of Turkey were affected by the earthquake and many were killed and injured.
Afghan earthquake victims in Turkey have told Salam Vatandar that they have lost some of their relatives, their houses have been destroyed and they are now living under temporary tents.
Fada Mohammad Pikan, the Deputy Minister of Health of the former government, who is in Turkey, has said, “People here have suffered a lot and many buildings have been destroyed. People need a lot of help.”
Another Afghan citizen told the media that the casualties are high and most of the houses and residential places of the people have been destroyed.
Afghan refugees emphasize that people who do not have legal documents to live in Turkey and who have been damaged in the earthquake should be given more serious attention.
“Shadab Zhakfar”, one of the people living in Turkey, also stated that “the aid does not reach the asylum seekers. Illegal and undocumented asylum seekers do not even have the ability to ask for help, no one takes care of the wounded or the problem of their displacement.”
On the other hand, “Mohammad Mosadegh Faqiri”, the deputy of the Afghan Embassy in Ankara, said, “It is natural that there are shortcomings in such times. There is a shipping problem. Help will go everywhere. Our team has just arrived in the city of Malatya and they said the same thing that some are still waiting for more help.
The recent earthquake in Turkey and Syria has left more than 30 thousand deads.
