AT-KABUL: The Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) on Tuesday signed an agreement with Chinese Red Cross based on which the latter will treat Afghan children with heart diseases in China.
“This is the first agreement with China Red Cross, which through for the first time 21 children with heart disease will be sent to China for treatment tomorrow,” said ARCS Acting Head Mirwais Akram.
He said that the program of treatment of Afghan children in China will be continued.
Mr. Salim Doctor for ARCS said that “over 500 children with heart diseases will be treated in China.”
He said that ARCS has started treating of children with heart disease since 2008, which till date 6,000 children were treated inside and outside the country.
Over 6,000 with heart diseases have been enlisted in ARCS for treatment, he added.
He elaborated that registration of children with heart diseases increased, adding that daily 1-10 patients register in ARCS for treatment.
The reason for increasing of patients hike is increasing of diagnostic facilities, he claimed.
Meanwhile Sun Shuopeng secretary-general of the Chinese Red Cross Foundation said that “we are now here to witness the implementation of a humanitarian program.”
He said that 21 children will be taken to China for treatment and our purpose is to save the Afghan children
China Ambassador Yao Jing expressing pleasure over signing of agreement for treatment of Afghan children said that “as a neighbor, as a friend and partners China will continue cooperation with Afghanistan in different aspect particularly in field of treatment of kids.”
