KABUL: The newly appointed Afghanistan’s cricket team captain said his new assignment was a mounting challenge and he enjoyed to face challenges.
Asghar Stanikzai appointed new captain while Javed Ahmadi as his deputy after former captain Nabi Eisakhel resigned from his position.
“I enjoy facing challenges and captaincy is a sort of challenge. I never come under pressure while playing as captain.” Stanakzai told Pajhwok Afghan News in an exclusive interview.
He had two other former captains playing in the team which would reduce pressure on him, he said, adding that he had led the team at national and international level competitions and won several matches.
The Afghan Cricket Board (ACB) announced 21 members cricket team and Afghanistan would play its first match against Scotland next month.
“We had much expectation from our bowling side but they did not come up to our expectation in last World Cup and the bowling side needed improvement, Stanikzai added. (PAN)
