Kabul: The Afghan embassy in Tehran was handed to new representative introduced by Afghanistan interim government’s foreign ministry.
Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, the first secretary of the former ambassador of Afghanistan in Iran, taking the seat in a new shift in leadership of Afghan diplomatic mission in Iran.
This comes after the Afghanistan foreign ministry stated in a letter that it had appointed Mohammad Afzal Haqqani as designated ambassador to Tehran. The letter noted that Haqqani, as the first secretary of the embassy, will be in charge of the diplomatic mission in Iran.
Iran is the third country to join Pakistan and Russia which handed over the Afghan embassies to the new Afghan envoys.
Since the fall of the government in Afghanistan in mid-August 2021, the Afghan embassy in Tehran has been managed by the diplomats of the previous government of Afghanistan.
