KABUL: Tens of media outlets halt functioning, either due to restriction on access to information and financial crisis amid an uncertain future of Afghanistan.
According to reports, over 150 media outlets, including the printing press, TV Channels, and radio stations suspended their activities.
Abdul Salam Zahid, a radio director said that “before we received projects from NGOs and government and advertisement from the market but now the economical situation has devastated.”
A journalist, Bismillah Watandost termed lack of budget as the main challenge for the media.
However, there are some media that have been functioning despite facing severe financial challenges The ministry of information and culture said that there is no restriction being imposed on the media and that the media are allowed to prolong functioning.
