KABUL: The Afghan security forces in fresh military stings have killed at least 35 Taliban fighters in three different provinces across the country, defense ministry said Sunday.
Taliban insurgents had assaulted Afghan security forces checkpoints in Shahwalikot district of southern Kandahar on Saturday night. “The attack was pushed back by the Afghan security forces,” the ministry said in a statement. “10 Taliban insurgents were killed during the clash.”
Four motorbikes and two strongholds of the enemy were also destroyed, the statement added.
Similarly, seven Taliban militants were killed and two others wounded after they attacked security forces check posts in Qaisar district of northern Faryab province.
On the other hand, seven Taliban fighters were killed in Sabzikar area of Chaharbolak district of northern Balkh province. The militants planned to carry out terrorist acts when they came under attack, the statement added.
