KABUL – Representing Afghanistan’s rich historical tapestry, the Afghanistan Pavilion at the International Horticultural Expo 2023 in Doha proudly exhibits an array of traditional products and crafts. This showcase not only symbolizes the nation’s legacy but also its historical significance as an ancient Silk Road junction and a nexus for human migrations.
The pavilion serves as a treasure trove of Afghan offerings, featuring an assortment of natural leather clothing, dried fruits including the famous sugar-coated almonds, a variety of nuts from mountain almonds to walnuts, dried berries, apricots, raisins, figs, and pistachios.
Alongside these culinary delights, the pavilion boasts an extensive array of handicrafts and gemstones. These displays exhibit intricate designs crafted from natural silk, drawing inspiration from the vibrant colors found in nature. The collection includes specialties such as mountain honey, saffron, and crystallized sugar.
Ahmed Shah, the supervisor of the pavilion, expressed immense enthusiasm about their participation. He highlighted the overwhelming interest from visitors of diverse nationalities, underscoring the global appeal of Afghan products. Shah noted the keen interest of visitors in purchasing items renowned for their exceptional quality, particularly the hand-woven woollen carpets and silver-inlaid bottles adorned with gemstones.
The Afghanistan Pavilion stands as a testament to the country’s cultural heritage and craftsmanship, drawing attention and admiration from a global audience at the expo.
