AT-KABUL: Ministry of Finance on Saturday said that Afghanistan had received the certificate of permanent membership to the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).
According to a statement, “on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund meetings and the second day of Minister of Finance’s trip to the Washington D.C., Afghanistan received the certificate of permanent membership of the AIIB.
Eklil Hakimi, minister of finance and Mr. Jin Liqun, the president of AIIB discussed about the progress in Afghanistan’s membership to this bank, would provide financial and technical facilities for solar energy, railway connectivity of five countries such as Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Iran and China financing infrastructure projects and some other important subjects, according to the statement released by the finance ministry.
Afghanistan’s membership to the bank has been very important and paves the way for the implementation of major national projects. In order to begin the practical work of this cooperation, in the near future, the head of the bank and his high-ranking delegation will visit Afghanistan, statement noted.
