KABUL: Kabul administration on Saturday said the first shipment of the Afghan goods will be exported to India through Chabahar port today (Sunday) since the port functionalize years ago.
The convoy is included 23 trucks carrying 570 tons of goods that would reach India by passing Pakistan—a neighboring state that has been in tense relations with both countries, Afghanistan and India.
Presidential Palace Spokesman Haroon Chakhansuri told newsmen that shipment would head to Chabahar Port from Zaranj City in Nimroz province, in the west of Afghanistan.
He said that this would be first time Afghanistan would find direct connection with Indian by using Chabahar port. According to him, the shipment will reach Abrisham Brdige and then to India.
Citing importance of Chabahar port that provides Afghanistan a direct sea access, Chakhansuri said President Ashrf Ghani will fly to Nimroz to inaugurate the first export cargo to India.
The idea of Chabhar Port to be used as regional hub for sea transpiration came on 2016 where India, Iran and Afghanistan signed an agreement on the establishment of a Transit and Transport Corridor. In 2017, India sent its first consignment of wheat to Afghanistan through Chabahar by passing Pakistan.
In recent days relations between Kabul and Islamabad and Islamabad and New Delhi is not good. Afghanistan for second time in one week wrote a letter to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) over consistent violations of Afghanistan’s territory by Pakistani forces and has called on the UN to initiate “necessary measures to address the matter at hand in an effective manner.
India is also accused Pakistan for recent terrorist attack in Kashmir where over 40 Indian soldiers were killed. New Delhi has raised the issue as well and has threatened Pakistan to isolate it diplomatically. Recently it has banned water flows to Pakistan following deadly attack.
