AT News Report-KABUL: Reacting to Pakistan’s recent decision to merge FederallyAdministered Tribal Areas (FATA) with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, former President Hamid Karzai has delivered a pessimist view, citing Islamabad’s decision dishonest and counterproductive. He said that the Afghan nation has never and will never recognize the Durand Line as official border line.
He said that though the Frontier Crimes Regulations (FCR) has put positive impacts on the brave tribal people’s life situation and helped them get saved from brutal colonialism and gain their initial rights, but Pakistan government’s decisions do not put impact on the historical facts in the other side of the Durand Line, because Afghans have never recognized and will never recognize the line as border line.
This comes as recently Pakistan’s Pakhtunkhwa Millie Awami Party Chief Mahmood Khan Achakzai, said that Pakistan has been enduring its most dangerous time, and this fact has been deeply acknowledged from high-ranking government official to ordinary people there. “In the face of the current fragile situation, there seems to be no trajectory as tribal hatred and schism is too gaining traction in Pakistan.”
Referring to Pakistan’s federally administrated tribal areas, Achakzai said that Pakistan government must be cautious. “Pakistan wants to bring reforms in FATA without having asked a single individual living there about it.”
“Why you’re concealing your perpetrating of great atrocities in FATA,” he asked the government of Pakistan. “Not hundreds, but thousands of people have been killed in FATA. You have committed atrocity against people living in FATA just like a foreign colonist state does against a colony.”
This comes as Pakistan’s lower house of parliament, with rare support from the opposition, has passed a bill to align tribal belt areas with the rest of the country. The legislation, pushed by the ruling party, envisages administratively merging the semi-autonomous tribal regions crossing Afghanistan into the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province for the first time in the 70 years since Pakistan’s creation.
